I'm not exaggerating here, either. Get it from a library or borrow from a friend, skim through it, and move on. I'm in the early stages of planning my wedding and in order to sate my ravenous desire for ideas, I've taken to borrowing a TON of wedding books from my University's library. As a library rental, it was fine. Just one endless list of names and phone numbers. Please, fellow brides-to-be (or friends and family thereof), do NOT spend your money on this book. So if you know, like me, that you want to be married in the fall, you've got 1 section of the book from which to draw visual inspiration. That, in itself, is a bit of a let-down.The thing that REALLY got me, though, was that the last 1/3 to 1/2 of the book is devoted to credits, acknowledgments, and a huge list of the author's favorite vendors (only useful if you live in NYC or CA because almost all of them are from those areas).
Alas, no. There must be more pictures and ideas in here.".
Why.First, the book only shows photos from 4 weddings, one for each season. When I reached this point in the book, I thought to myself "You have GOT to be kidding me.
This book was among them.I was very excited to read this book because of the title and the cover art, but having looked through it I can safely say that this book proves the rule that you should NOT judge a book by its cover (or title on that cover). Pages 236-351 are taken up by these things.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Had I spent money on it, however, I would have been PISSED at what I got.
And within that quarter of the book, there is only 1 single wedding.
This book is unrealistic for DIY brides. I truly was looking forward to getting this book to help me plan my winter wedding reception. I was very disappointed in what i received.
It taught me to stop seeing every choice by itself and start visualizing our upcoming event as a whole concept. While the average bride doesn't spend money on 40 custom covered silk seat cushions to match the custom tent shading the cake, the professional process the designers went through thinking out the "look" of each wedding is very useful. Fun for the ideas and a peek into how the super rich get married. The weddings photographed in this book are really over-the-top (dollar). Which is not to say they aren't fun to look at and incredibly imaginative and beautiful.
Broken down into Seasons, really incredible and lovely to read. The Perfect Wedding Reception: Stylish Ideas For Every SeasonReally a great book. a must own for every bride.
Watching cable television can give you ideas and save you some money; money that you can actually use for the wedding reception. There are limited ideas and since trends change from season to season you are better off buying a bridal magazine. If you are looking for help planning a wedding there are better sources online.
